London Jazz Festival Devising Days

We are super excited to be taking part once again in the London Jazz Festival. It might not be until November but we’ve already started on our most ambitious compositional project of the year.

Once again we’ve brought together two diverse groups of young people from Bromley and Bexley to co-create a themed piece – this year responding to the global threat of Climate Change, seen from a young person’s perspective.

Led by the brilliant artists Rahel Debebe-Dessalegne and James Yarde, and assisted by singer-songwriter De’Borah Powell over May half term, all the young people involved met for two days of creative devising at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.

We took part in discussions around the songwriting brief before breaking off into groups to start composing.

The groups will come together again in September for more devising and rehearsals leading up to two high-profile performances as part of the London Jazz Festival: one at the Albany in Deptford on 22nd November and one at the Southbank Centre on 24th November.
