Last week our Music Leaders and wider team met for an Inclusive Practice session, to reflect on what we think of as inclusion, and how these can be incorporated into every part of our work.
We sat down to chat with Theo about his time at ArtsTrain and his experiences as a songwriter and bassist.
For the past few months, our London Jazz Festival collective have been busy in workshops and rehearsals, creating original music for their performance at the festival on Sunday 17 November.
Music has always been part of me. Ever since I can remember I was singing and playing instruments anytime I could.
We will be taking to the stage this November as our London Jazz Festival project returns. We’re excited to have two groups taking part this autumn for our fifteenth festival.
Our 10 week project in partnership with Bromley Youth Support Programme took place between April and June of this year, challenging 14 young people, aged 14-19 to step out of their comfort zones to write music and develop their artistry.

To round off Women’s History Month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on two of our incredibly inspiring female music leaders, Barbara Pugliese and Naomi Jackson.
This year we performed in the London Jazz Festival as part of The London Line-Up, presenting young emerging artists and youth music ensembles to show just how much talent this city has to offer.

Over the last few months we have been busy in Bexley, with four community and school songwriting projects.
This summer we were back working with long-term partner Bromley Children Looked After to offer a summer school for young people in Bromley aged 17 to 22 who have left the care system.
The summer term was a busy few weeks for us at ArtsTrain, delivering rap workshops and songwriting sessions for schools in Bromley.
“I came into ArtsTrain as a drummer alone, but within a few months, I was beginning to write lyrics and never looked back.”
Since the start of 2022 we’ve had the pleasure of working with JusB, an independent, community-based charity serving young people in Bromley.
We’re incredibly excited to announce that we have secured our funding as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation for 2023-2026.
This half-term we teamed up once again with our long-term partner and autism charity CASPA, who are based in Bromley.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve joined forces with 16 other local cultural organisations to form the Bexley Culture Network.
This autumn we worked with schools across Bexley and Bromley to form 2022’s London Jazz Festival Collective.

London Jazz Festival returns for its 30th annual edition in the city and we’re excited to have two groups taking part this autumn for our twelfth festival.

In July we returned to the Churchill Theatre in Bromley for our first showcase and gig since the pandemic.
As part of the Platinum Jubilee Cultural Programme in Bromley, we partnered with Bromley Council and BETTER libraries
