ArtsTrain x Broadway Sessions
Late at night, as the lights went out in the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bexleyheath and shoppers went home, our young artists set up for a special series of live recordings…
Once the shopping centre was locked down, an abandoned store was turned into an underground music space ready for ArtsTrain's series of live Broadway Sessions.
Here, our Academy groups performed three original tracks they’ve worked on during their weekly sessions, inspired by life in the city.
Something we feel passionately about at ArtsTrain is that our participants are given relevant experience of the music industry. While we offer a number of opportunities for them to perform to the public, we also wanted to ensure they have other tools they can use in the future - which is how we landed on the idea of music videos.
By working with videographers at Spectash Productions, our young people were able to create a music video for each of their tracks. After capturing their work on screen, their performances can now be shared on their own social media platforms - essentially creating promotional material for our participants’ future artistic careers.
Once the recordings were ready, we held a preview session for all the groups at The Churchill Theatre in order to watch each other’s performances and hear feedback from their peers. There were a lot of practical lessons learnt, which has given our young people first-hand experience of starring in their own music videos.
We’d like to say a huge thanks to Rai Holdstock and the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bexleyheath for helping us put these together. Watch the videos below and enjoy!
